Nic Dragomirov

Nic Dragomirov is recognized as an outstanding scholar and leader at Schaumburg High School, demonstrating exceptional dedication in the classroom and greater SHS community. Over the past four years, Nic has pursued an ambitious academic courseload, engaging deeply with rigorous content and contributing thoughtful insights to class discussions. Her commitment to excellence has earned her recognition as a National Merit Finalist and a member of National Honor Society, where she exemplifies intellectual curiosity and determination.

Nic’s leadership extends far beyond the classroom through her involvement in National Honor Society and the performing arts at Schaumburg High School. As Vice President for St. Baldrick’s within our NHS chapter, Nic has played an important role in organizing initiatives to support pediatric cancer research and encourage students to give back. Nic is also heavily involved in SHS Theatre, including the fall and winter plays, improv show, and musical. Through these experiences, Nic has developed a strong sense of collaboration and creativity, building meaningful connections with fellow performers and bringing her energy for the arts to each production.

Nic’s passion for music and leadership is perhaps most visible through her work in the Schaumburg High School band program. As an oboist in the SHS Wind Symphony for three years, Nic approaches each rehearsal with remarkable attention to detail and a deep understanding of the music she performs. She has been a member of the District 211 Honor Band and Honors Orchestra since her sophomore year and was selected for the ILMEA District 7 Band this fall, recognizing her as one of the top oboists in the region. Over the past two years, Nic has served as a drum major for the Saxon Marching Band, leading nearly two hundred students in rehearsals and performances with confidence and energy. She serves as President of the Band Leadership Team and as a senior intern for the Concert Band, where she regularly leads rehearsals and mentors younger musicians. Nic also plays principal oboe in the Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra and earlier this winter was selected for the Future Music Educators Seminar at the Illinois Music Education Conference, a testament to her work ethic and commitment.

Reflecting on her time at Schaumburg High School, Nic states that going out for leadership positions helped her grow immensely and eventually helped her find her future career path. With so many extracurricular commitments, Nic prioritizes studying and completing her work during down time. However, she also finds it important to set aside one day a week to relax, in order for her to be more productive the rest of the week.

Looking ahead, Nic plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a degree in music education. Her dedication to learning, combined with her genuine care for others, will surely make her an outstanding educator and role model for future students. We look forward to hearing about the impact she will make in the years to come.
