January Senior of the Month 2022

Congratulations Shane Andres!

Schaumburg High School is proud to recognize Shane Andres as January 2022 Senior of the Month!

Shane Andres is an incredibly curious, determined, and selfless student leader at Schaumburg High School. He is recognized throughout our school for his dedication to academics, asking thoughtful questions, and fully engaging with content across the entire school curriculum. Shane possesses an intrinsic love of learning, never focusing on grades but rather on the knowledge to be gained. He is also a highly collaborative leader in the classroom, helping foster a positive learning environment through his interactions with peers and staff.

In addition to his academic successes, Shane has been highly involved with co-curricular activities at SHS. Within the Band program specifically, Shane has stood out for both his musicianship and leadership over the last four years. Two years ago, Shane earned “Best of Day” recognition at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Festival for his solo saxophone performance, a significant accomplishment, especially as a sophomore. This fall, Shane was selected as principal tenor saxophone in the ILMEA District 7 Band and lead tenor saxophone in the ILMEA District 7 Jazz Ensemble I, recognizing him as one of the top saxophonists in suburban Chicago. He has also served as a two-year section leader for the SHS Marching and Pep Bands, regularly mentoring younger musicians and sharing his passion for music. He frequently finds ways to give back, including repairing electronics and building new field markers for the Saxon Marching Band. Shane was elected co-Vice President of the Band Leadership Team this year and serves as Secretary of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, where he continues to dedicate his time to helping others.

Outside of the school day, Shane has been a member of Boys Soccer, Scholastic Bowl, National Honor Society, and Engineering Club. Additionally, Shane is a leader in Boy Scouts of America, where he regularly volunteers in the community and recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Reflecting on how he stays motivated, Shane credits time management as well as the support and energy provided by his friends. He also notes that the enthusiasm shown by his teachers gives him further motivation to succeed. After graduation, Shane plans to study electrical engineering, and we look forward to following his continuing success in the years to come.
