December 2024 Senior of the Month

Congratulations to Sky Guerrero for being announced as December 2024 Senior of the Month.

We are pleased to announce that Skylar Guerrero has been named the December Senior of the Month. At the beginning of her freshman year, Skylar immediately immersed herself into Student Activities by becoming a standout member of Student Council. Right away Skylar demonstrated initiative, an outstanding work ethic, and ability to lead her peers.

Skylar has demonstrated leadership at Schaumburg High School by being a Student Ambassador, Lift Mentor, Peer Mediator, member of Saxon’s Lead, National Honor Society member and Student Council Executive Board member for 3 years. Sky served as President of Student Council her both her junior and senior year. Sky has balanced all this while taking accelerated classes and participating in highly competitive gymnastics outside of school. In each of these areas she has stood out from her peers in her ability to lead and take action. Sky is reliable and demonstrates a maturity beyond her years. She is friendly, outgoing, and has the ability to effectively lead a team.

Within the classroom, Skylar is engaged and is a model student. According to one of her teachers, “Sky is the student that every teacher wants in the classroom. She brings positive energy on a daily basis, leads class discussions and puts in the work outside of class to ensure she gets the grades she demands of herself. She is a leader in every sense of the word.” Sky demonstrates a strong ability to diversify and multi-task by excelling in school, activities, while competing in gymnastics at the highest level. She also demonstrates incredible problem-solving skills and the ability to overcome obstacles.

Sky was nominated to the Homecoming Senior Rose Arbor Court, as one of ten girls in the senior class. Her ability to be recognized by both staff and peers for her four years of accomplishments is a testament to her character. Sky has fully embraced what it means to be a Saxon and has left her mark on SHS.

Outside of school, Sky is a member of the Schaumburg Peer Jury in conjunction with the Schaumburg Police Department and volunteers at Yama physical therapy. She plans on pursuing a career in physical therapy and is currently completing her CNA certification.
