We are proud to announce Isabella Mishler as the December Senior of the Month. Throughout her years at Schaumburg High School, Izzy has proven to be a leader both in the classroom and out. She has maintained a high academic standing despite the time that she devotes to many outside activities. She has successfully balanced a strenuous academic load with significant athletic activities both within as well as outside the school. Isabella’s hard work, coupled with her willingness to help others, has distinguished her as a worthy recipient of this recognition.

In the classroom, Izzy’s success has been extraordinary in its scope. She has achieved high marks in many fields, and constantly challenges herself in a variety of subjects. Her success has spanned diverse academic fields, which is a testament to her hard work and drive to succeed. Isabella has been recognized with the IHSA Academic award, a testament to her significant academic achievement. She is a key member of the National Honor Society, a recognition of her academic abilities, community service, and leadership abilities. As her AP US History teacher Mrs. Lopez states, “Izzy was a leader in a very talented group from day one. She was a uniquely dedicated student who never failed to give her best effort, and constantly strove for - and achieved - excellence. The extraordinary amount of time she spent on her athletic pursuits only strengthened her classroom performance. She had to maintain a high level of discipline, and she did. She will be very successful at Virginia Tech.”

Isabella’s involvement is felt throughout the school day. She serves as a member of the SALT program and Saxons LEAD. She is an accomplished athlete, being designated All-Conference and All-Area in Volleyball, among her many Volleyball recognitions. She has played for the Varsity Volleyball team for four years, and has been a clear leader in the program. Unlike so many, however, Isabella seeks involvement not because of what the groups can do for her, but rather because these opportunities provide her the chance to serve others. Izzy is happiest when she is involved, and her energy and drive are exceptional among the student body.

On the personal level, Isabella’s enthusiasm for life and significant work ethic have earned for her the admiration of her peers. She has embraced her high school years with enthusiasm, and is truly a leader among the student body. She was chosen by her peers as the exemplar of Character at this year’s NHS Induction ceremony. While her athletic opportunities are leading her to an early graduation, she continues her deep involvement in challenging classes and her activities through her last semester as a Saxon.

Isabella Mishler is truly an extraordinary person who contributes positively and selflessly in any situation she encounters. She will attend Virginia Tech University, where she will major in Chemical Engineering and play volleyball. She shines in her academic performance, and she freely shares her gifts with others. Izzy is an involved and talented individual, and we are proud to announce her selection as the December Senior of the Month.
