Sang Bogonko April 2026 Senior of the Month

Sang Bogonko April 2026 Senior of the Month

Schaumburg High School April Senior of the Month

Sang Bogonko

Sang Bogonko is a dedicated and well-rounded leader at Schaumburg High School, excelling across many departments, extracurricular activities, and in the broader Schaumburg community. Over the past four years, Sang has challenged himself with a rigorous schedule of Honors and Advanced Placement coursework, consistently demonstrating strong academic discipline and intellectual curiosity. Recognized as an Academic Scholar and a member of National Honor Society, Sang brings a steady determination and thoughtful approach to his studies, contributing positively to the learning environment for both students and staff across SHS.

Sang’s passion for music and leadership is clearly reflected in his involvement in the Schaumburg High School Band program. As a trumpet player, Sang has been a member of the Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble for the past two years, consistently performing at a high level with attention to detail and musicality. He has also been a member of the District 211 Honor Band and is performing in this year’s musical pit orchestra, continuing to seek out opportunities to expand his musicianship. Sang has served as a section leader in the Saxon Marching Band for the past two years, leading with consistency, positivity, and a strong work ethic. Sang’s leadership is defined not by recognition, but by his steady presence and commitment to helping others succeed.

Sang demonstrates a genuine commitment to serving others with humility and care through his extracurricular involvement. As a leader within Christian Ambassadors, Sang plays an active role in building community and supporting his peers. Outside of the school day, Sang volunteers as a youth soccer coach and serves as a crew leader for his church’s Vacation Bible School program, as well as performing as a musician in the church choir. Through these experiences, Sang has developed strong leadership skills and a deep sense of responsibility to those around him.

Outside of school, Sang is a highly accomplished soccer player, competing at a national level in the MLS Next program with Sockers FC and regularly traveling across the country for competition. He was recruited as a junior and will continue his athletic career as a Division I athlete at Marquette University, where he plans to major in secondary education with the goal of pursuing a future in educational leadership.

Reflecting on his time at Schaumburg High School, Sang shared that his final marching band halftime show was especially meaningful, as it gave him the opportunity to look back on how much he has grown both musically and personally and how deeply he has connected with those around him. When asked how he maintains balance, Sang emphasized the importance of the people around him, stating, “I wouldn’t be able to maintain that balance without such a strong support system from my teachers and family. I can really feel their support for me, and their patience and compassion have really helped me stay motivated to continue pushing, even when I feel stressed or overwhelmed.”

Sang Bogonko’s combination of scholarship, leadership, and service makes him an outstanding representative of Schaumburg High School. We look forward to seeing his continued positive impact in the years to come.

Congratulations, Sang Bogonko, on being named Schaumburg High School Senior of the Month!
