Tier 2 – Coordinated Supports

When additional support is needed, targeted interventions help students overcome barriers while remaining engaged in learning.

Intervention & Learning Center (Room 259)

The Intervention & Learning Center (ILC) serves as Schaumburg High School's central hub for Tier 2 academic interventions.

Programs include:

Imagine Learning Credit Recovery

The primary purpose of the ILC is supporting students enrolled in the Imagine Learning online curriculum. This credit recovery program allows students who are credit deficient or who have not successfully completed a graduation requirement to recover credits while receiving individualized monitoring, accountability, and academic support.

Guided Study Hall

Students assigned to Guided Study Hall receive individualized support in a smaller, structured learning environment where Teaching Assistants assist with organization, assignment completion, study skills, and developing habits that lead to long-term academic success.

Academic Support Plans

Students may be temporarily assigned to the ILC through an administrator-developed Academic Support Plan. These short-term placements provide a structured, supportive learning environment that allows students to regain academic focus, complete assignments, and successfully transition back into their regular schedule. In many cases, these plans serve as a restorative alternative to traditional disciplinary consequences while keeping students engaged in learning.

Transition Support

The ILC also serves as a transition space for students returning from homebound instruction, hospitalization, or other extended absences. Staff work closely with students to rebuild routines, provide academic support, and ease the transition back into their regular school schedule.

ACCESS Test Preperation

Eligible multilingual students participate in small-group instruction aligned to the WIDA English Language Development Standards.
Students typically participate twice each week and receive instruction across all four language domains:

  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Reading
  • Writing

Individual schedules and locations are provided once student schedules solidify.

Student Services

In addition to academic interventions, students and families have direct access to dedicated Student Services professionals who support academic planning, student well-being, and social-emotional growth.

School Counselors

Counselors partner with students and families throughout high school by assisting with:

  • Course selection
  • Graduation planning
  • College and career readiness
  • Postsecondary planning
  • Connecting students with available resources

School Psychologists & Social Workers

School psychologists and social workers provide counseling, crisis response, intervention planning, and connections to school and community resources that support students' academic and social-emotional success.
