January Senior of the Month – Maddy Chau

Maddy Chau – January SENIOR OF THE MONTH

We are proud to announce Maddy Chau as the January Senior of the Month.  During her career at Schaumburg High School, Maddy’s leadership has impacted students, community members, and the global community. Her excellence in academics, extra-curricular activities, and volunteerism distinguishes her as a leader par excellence who has devoted countless hours to making the world a better place.

Maddy is an excellent student. Her academic accolades include the World Language Award, National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, the AP Scholar Award, and the State Scholar Award. She leads in the classroom both as a model of hard work and as an active participant in class discussions. She also contributes to Schaumburg High School as the Co-Captain of the Speech Team and a State and National Qualifier for B.P.A.

When she is not working hard in her classes, captaining the Speech Team, or winning major awards at SHS, Maddy devotes her time to a cornucopia of local and international volunteer organizations. She is a leader of the The Multicultural Education Outreach Foundation andthe president of Lao Youth Leaders. She mentors students in music, translates for people in the area, and has volunteered in an orphanage in Laos. This summer she taught English classes at the U.S. embassy in Laos.

Maddy believes her organization and passion has helped her balance all the academic and leadership commitments that she has. She states, “Knowing that I can teach a kid how to play soccer or truly guide and mentor someone is enough for me to be motivated and not let other factors get the best of me.” This vision and drive has built an incredible leader who the Schaumburg community is proud to honor. Her leadership coupled with vision and empathy will serve her well as she pursues an International Business degree with plans to be a United States Diplomat.
